Center Role:  Leads the atmospheric emissions research at Rothamsted Research and will lead the field trials on the NICCEE project.
Bio

Laura has worked on the emissions of volatile nitrogen species from agriculture since 1989.  She was awarded a PhD in atmospheric chemistry from the University of East Anglia where she measured formaldehyde and CO in the atmosphere.  In the last 24 years she has developed automated state-of-the-art laboratory systems to investigate the controls of nitrous oxide (N2O) and nitrogen gas (N2) from soils and have studied factors controlling emissions. She has also worked at the field scale using static and automated chambers and more recently Eddy Covariance techniques to measure gas emissions from agriculture. She is a key contributor to the Defra inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, responsible for the compilation and submission to the UNFCCC of the UK agricultural GHG inventory. She is qualified to conduct international inventory reviews for the UNFCCC, and has been an advisor for the inventories of Chile, Spain and South Africa. She has received funding from BBSRC, NERC, DEFRA, and the Royal Society.
