MAP-EI: Mapping Environmental Drivers for Inhibitor Efficacy

We are excited to launch a new, interactive spatial tool from the NICCEE-UK team! Introducing: MAP-EI: Mapping Environmental Drivers for Inhibitor Efficacy.

Nitrate and urea inhibitors present vital opportunities to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, but their success can vary significantly depending on the surrounding environment. MAP-EI aims to help bridge the gap between research and regional strategic planning.

The web app integrates spatial datasets across England to map the primary environmental drivers for inhibitor efficacy, including:

  • Soil properties: pH, texture, drainage, SOC
  • Climate drivers: average air temperature and cumulative rainfall following application
  • Management context: fertilizer application rates and total load
