Leadership Maryland Visits NICCEE
Leadership Maryland’s Executive Program, a professional development program that educates and inspires leaders from diverse fields across the state, visited with the Global Nitrogen Innovation Center for Clean Energy and the Environment (NICCEE) at the UMCES Appalachian Laboratory in Frostburg, Maryland (MD) on July 11, 2024.
During their visit, Leadership Maryland participants met with NICCEE Program Manager Dr. Sarah Garvey and PhD candidate Yanyu Wang to discuss NICCEE’s commitment to use-inspired science and its mission to support sustainable nitrogen management and address emerging green ammonia technology. They discussed the importance of improving global nitrogen management and budgeting; as well as NICCEE’s regional co-production workshop, where NICCEE scientists met with more than 15 local farmers and agriculture businesses on the MD eastern shore, and the successful Nitrogen Summer Institute in Baltimore, which brought together more than 50 experts from around the world. This meeting with Leadership Maryland demonstrates NICCEE’s continued dedication to community building and use-inspired science from local to global scales, reinforcing our commitment to advancing sustainable nitrogen management in Maryland and beyond.
