Launching the NICCEE Internship Program: Two New Opportunities with IFA - Apply Today!

The NICCEE Education Program is excited to announce the first offerings of the NICCEE Internship Program! The Internship Program provides graduate students in the NICCEE community with hands-on, real-world experience through placements with partner organizations that are shaping the future of nitrogen management, technologies and policy.

Our first two internship opportunities, offered in partnership with the International Fertilizer Association (IFA), are now open for applications!

  1. An opportunity in Microbial Management Strategies in Long-Term Nutrient Cycling. The selected student will conduct a literature review of peer-reviewed and grey literature on microbial nutrient management products, assess evidence on long-term field performance and nutrient use efficiency, and help identify research gaps. This work will contribute to an upcoming Gates–IFA convening in 2026. Preferred internship timing: January–April 2026. Click for the full internship posting on the NICCEE website.

  2. An opportunity in Low-Carbon Ammonia and Nitrogen Fertilizer Production Technologies. The selected student will conduct a literature review of peer-reviewed and grey literature on renewable-based nitrogen fertilizer production technologies, exploring the readiness, scalability, costs, and long-term potential of new technologies. Preferred internship timing: Spring (Feb – April) 2026. Click for the full internship posting on the NICCEE website.
